Terms of use
Version 2026-10-28
Draft — awaiting legal review
These terms apply when you use MetrIQ, a service run by [Company name] Ltd (company number [company number]), [registered address] ("we", "us"). Contact: [contact email].
1. What MetrIQ does
MetrIQ connects homeowners in Sheffield with independent, verified electricians. We are a platform: we do not carry out any work. The electrician who accepts your job is an independent business and is solely responsible for the work, its quality and safety, and for holding appropriate insurance.
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or over and give accurate details, including a working mobile number.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- One account per person. Each account is either a homeowner or a trader account.
3. Posting jobs
- Describe the job honestly and only post jobs at addresses you are entitled to arrange work for.
- You can have up to two open jobs at a time during the beta.
- Your full address and phone number are shown only to the electrician who accepts your job.
- You agree to be available at the address when the electrician attends, or to cancel in the app as early as possible.
4. Cancellations and no-shows
- You can cancel a job in the app before the electrician has marked it done.
- If an electrician reports that nobody was in, the job is closed and a flag is recorded on your account. After three flags you will not be able to post jobs until we review your account.
- If an electrician does not turn up, you can report it from one hour after they accepted; the job is offered to other electricians again.
5. Prices and payment
During the beta, MetrIQ is free for homeowners and traders. Any price for the work itself is agreed directly between you and the electrician. After the beta we plan to introduce a call-out fee of £30–£50 paid by homeowners through MetrIQ and held until the job is complete; we will tell you before any charge applies and you will not be charged without agreeing.
6. Reviews and messages
Reviews and messages must be honest, lawful and respectful. We may remove content or accounts that are abusive, misleading or unlawful.
7. Our responsibility
We take reasonable care to verify traders' identity and documents, but we do not guarantee any trader's work. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud. Otherwise our liability to you is limited to £100.
8. Ending your use
You can close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
9. Changes and law
We may update these terms; we will show the new version and ask you to accept material changes. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. See also our privacy notice.
